"Nothing quite makes your night like falling two hundred feet into a sinkhole."FINAL DECISION: This is my favorite book in the series. The drama with the relationship between Janet and Mick raised the importance and tension in the story.
THE STORY: Janet Begay is a Stormwalker with a boyfriend, Mick, who is a dragon. When the ground collapses beneath Janet, she finds something dark under the ground. Even worse, it seems like darkness is all around and even Mick begins to act strangely.
OPINION: For me the best part of this book is the change in Mick and the threat to his relationship with Janet. Janet is challenged here because she realizes the real possibility of losing Mick. In many ways, she has taken their relationship for granted. The story in this book forces her to consider how much Mick means to her. There are other strange things going on in this town, but, for me, this book is best when Janet is having to consider how much the relationship and Mick means to her. This book is sad and at times very filled with angst. Because of the development in the relationship, this book is my favorite.
WORTH MENTIONING: One of the interesting things about this series is that the end of each book gives a little teaser about what is coming up in the future setting up one of the continuing stories.
CONNECTED BOOKS: SHADOW WALKER is the third book in the Stormwalker series. The story is self-contained although the continuing character relationships and some of the stories are continuing throughout the series.
STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.

Shadow Walker Stormwalker Book 3 Allyson James Books Reviews
The third book in Allyson James' Stormwalker series opened with a bang. Janet and Nash end up in a sinkhole with no way to get out, but it's Mick to the rescue. The plot was a little slow after this first incident, but really picked up when the Mick storyline began.
This book focuses heavily on Mick and Janet's feelings for one another. I like that Janet realized the true depth of her love and that Mick finally opened himself up fully to her. It was good to see their relationship progress.
The storyline was a little shaky at times, but it was such fun that I just went with it. We have a lot of characters in this one helping Janet out Maya, Nash, the Mirror, Jameson, Fremont, Cassandra, Pamela, Elena the cook, Grandmother, Coyote, Colby, Drake, and Gabrielle among others. I am interested to see how Gabrielle's character develops in the next novel (WHICH DOESN'T HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET!!!!!).
This was another great ride with Janet & the Dragonettes and I for one can't wait until the next!
SHADOW WALKER, book 3 in the Stormwalker series, opens right in the middle of the action. Janet speeding on her bike gets caught in Nash's radar and as they're tearing down the road with Nash trying to pull her over to (without a doubt) write her the mother of all speeding tickets, a large sink hole opens up sucking them both in. Janet survives the fall, but Nash is in bad shape and in need of immediate care. All of this happens in chapter 1 - the story grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go.
When Mick is seen secretly talking to a strange blonde woman, Janet knows something's up. Add to that the fact that her hotel is in horrible shape once again. Wiring is shot, the plumbing is bad and Maya's pissed; Janet's life is never boring. She also has an inspector breathing down her back to get the hotel back up to code or not only is he shutting them down, the hotel and land will be turned over to the county and Janet will lose it all. So, no pressure.
In the middle of trying to figure out how to save her hotel, Mick starts acting really strange. Gone is the lovable dragon shifter who will do anything to make Janet happy and in his place is a cold, unfeeling man. Janet notices his aura has changed and can sense that something's taken him over. We find out early on that he's been enslaved by a witch, which basically makes him do her biding, and that includes getting rid of Janet. For the first time in years, Janet doesn't have Mick watching her back or fighting alongside her. He's the evil she has to face and with the Dragon Council putting a deadline on Janet of either she figures out a way to kill the witch in order to save Mick or they'd take over and kill whoever they need to in order to stop this threat and keep the witch from enslaving other dragons. Janet has 24 hours and scrambles to find answers.
This was an incredibly angsty story for our heroine. My heart broke for her when her heart was breaking seeing this version of Mick, the exact opposite of the man she loves
**********
"I looked into the eyes of a stranger. Whatever part of Mick had loved me was gone. This man wouldn't smile at me over dinner in a fancy restaurant, wouldn't growl as he licked the inside of my wrist, wouldn't whisper naughty things to me as we stood together in a crowded room. Gone was the man who'd taught me how to control my magic and fix up my bike, who kept me warm when we curled up to sleep, who'd kissed syrup off my lips in the morning."
**********
With help from her friends, including Cassandra, Nash, Maya, and even her half sister Gabrielle, Janet's on a race to save her man, willing to do whatever it takes, including giving up her life if it means saving his. The supporting characters always add a great amount to any story in this series. Gabrielle's turning into quite the wildcard. I'm not convinced at all that she'll ever be on the side of everything that's good but she has moments that make me think twice and she has the potential to be a very interesting and without a doubt, an unpredictable player in this series.
SHADOW WALKER is another great edition to the series, one that centers around Janet and Mick and really puts their relationship to the test, but it's very clear just how strongly they feel about one another and their willingness to do whatever it takes to protect the other person. As the book was winding down, the last few pages had real sense of almost closure. Until Coyote gets a very unexpected surprise, and will certainly have his hands full in the next book. And I, for one, can't wait for those fireworks!
(Also random side note - this book cover is gorgeous! The colors are so beautiful, it's one of my favorites. A+ for the design!)
I am a fan of Allyson James (Jennifer Ashley's pen name for this series) and I love the Stormwalker series. Janet Begay is back with her Dragon lover Mick, but this time a witch has enslaved Mick and he is trying to kill Janet. Obviously she doesn't want to retaliate, and while trying to figure out who the witch is, how to defeat her without killing Mick and protect her hotel from an inspector who is a little too nasty to be real she must deal with her grandmother and Sheriff Nash. Lots of action and angst, this book is well worth the read for anyone who enjoys paranormal romance. And I definitely would recommend reading the entire series to best understand all the characters and back history.
