~4.5 stars~Ok, honestly....I stayed up waaaaaaaay too late reading this one last night. Ha ha ha! But I couldn't sleep anyway since we've had the lovely tummy bug going around at my house, and I was tossing and turning from it. Sooooooo instead of laying in bed wide awake staring at the ceiling(or walls) I put my awake-ness to good use ;-)
I was hooked from the get go! Grace and Ash were just so much fun to read about. Their banter on their radio show, Battle of the Sexes, was just too fun! I found myself holding in giggles, because I didn't want to wake anyone else of course. Oh my word! Can I just say I related so well to Ash too! He may be the guy character but heavens I totally understood him. He's the kind of person who doesn't have a clue about social media and has no accounts, yet his co-host Grace is queen of social media. When their show is being questioned with a possible replacement by a syndicated show his PR group tell him he needs to up his game. What does that include you might ask? Yep, you probably guessed it too....social media baby! #completelyclueless... ok that's not a real # but I couldn't resist. I guess I'm not as clueless as Ash about social media but pretty close. I don't do FB, twitter, instagram(are there any others I left out????). The first time I heard about a 'tweet' was months, months I tell you after twitter was all the rage. My sweet sister in law had to explain it to me. And honestly, I'm not THAT old! I do know how to use FB(I just browse through my mom and sister's when we visit). ^.^ But it's just not my thing and I'm ok with that. But it sure endeared me to Ash to know that he was even more tech illiterate and social media illiterate than me! Hee Hee!
If you enjoy fun banter between characters, a hidden crush/love and lots of playful tweets, instagram posts(and even a couple pictures with captions actually making up a chapter) I think you'll have a great time with this book. Plus if you've read any of Power of the Matchmaker series, Sheralyn Pratt wrote one of the books in that series, King of the Friend Zone, and Esme the female MC makes several appearances in this book. And if you have read this one and not King of the Friend Zone, then I recommend going and reading Esme's story, I highly enjoyed it.
Seriously loved the chemistry between these characters and the actual kiss in the book that launched the 1,000 Gifs...yeah that was pretty fun. There's a whole story behind it and it's a fun part of the book. Cute fun read that overall I really enjoyed!
Content: Ok there were quite a few innuendos throughout that wasn't in the other book I read by this author. Most of them are very mild and, clean-if you can call an innuendo that- but there were a few that pushed it for what I usually am comfortable with(hence the 4.5 stars instead of 5 from me). Grace's boyfriend Phillip gives her an ultimatum at one point in the story that they will break up if she doesn't spend the night with him.(spoiler-she doesn't) They do talk about the fact that they have sex, nothing graphic or detailed but enough that you know they sleep together occasionally. Phillip wants Grace to move in with her but she believes that won't help their relationship last into marriage, but probably just cause them to breakup. A couple sweet kisses, and a couple passionate kisses. I'm pretty sure that's everything within the book content wise that someone might be wondering about. Overall I would recommend for more mature readers, even though it wasn't anything graphic or detailed I would still recommend for mature readers.
Happy Reading!!!

The Kiss That Launched 1 000 Gifs edition by Sheralyn Pratt Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
So, has a function where you can create folders - or "collections" - that allow you to categorize your reads. Me, I have a collection for books I had read, and other collections broken down to genres, and one to stow my favorite reads. The moment I finished The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs, I added it to My Favorite Reads collection. The book was that stellar; I had that much fun reading it. It's my first time spent with author Sheralyn Pratt, but I predict she'll be making stacks of $ off of me in the future.
Beware some plot spoilers.
In San Francisco, Grace and Ash wage a daily skirmish of heated words and opinions. But they're paid to do this for two hours as co-hosts of their popular local radio talk show, Battle of the Sexes. They've been arguing professionally for two years now. When not doing the show, they hardly ever socialize. They don't have much in common, you see. For instance, Grace Vazquez is always posting or checking her social media feed. Conversely, Ashton Miller prefers to go, as his niece calls it, "unplugged."
Theirs is a popular show, yes. But even Battle of the Sexes must kowtow to the nature of the business. Fact is, their ratings are good... for a local show. The suits think their time slot could be better served with a syndicated show filling it.
Cue the eleventh hour stab at a fix twelve billboards strewn all across town, half of 'em featuring Grace, the other half featuring the tendentious Ash and saddled with the blurb "Sexy or Sexist? You decide. Weekdays at 200 p.m."
And then there's Grace and Ash's broadcast remote with Small Steps, the charity that provides shoes for homeless children. And here's where we get to the crux of the plot. To help the charity out - and because, let's face it, it's good publicity - our talky pair agree to smooch for charity. Says the charity's chairwoman "We were thinking that if listeners donated $1,000, the two of you would kiss on stage at the event." Maybe Grace shouldn't have thrown the gauntlet at their audience. She announces it'll be one second of kissing for each thousand dollars that come in.
I'm a drive-by reader when it comes to certain genres in literature. For example, I've been binge-reading H.E.A. romances featuring royals. But I've a sneaking suspicion Sheralyn Pratt is about to be my latest obsession. To me, The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs is a perfect book. I think I love it as much as I do Kelly Oram's Cinder & Ella. Sheralyn Pratt's writing, her characters, the romantic tension, the swoon factor... all those elements captivated me. I just got done reading it, and, already, I want to crack the open again.
Ash is as cool as the other side of the pillow. Not saying he's a playa, but he can't take any romantic relationship too seriously. Why? Well, we find out early on that Ash harbors an almighty crush on his co-host, and it's a fascination that's very much unrequited. Thus, he's played it cool for two years now.
Thing is, Grace is taken. She's been with her man, the elegant Phillip, for three years now. She's a high society girl, is perfectly at home in the foodie circles he runs in, what with him being an upscale restaurateur and chef. So, you see, Ash has got no shot.
And if that isn't a recipe for heart-palpitating romance, I dunno what is.
As much as I dig Grace and Ash and Grace's best friend Esme, my favorite character is easily Megan, Ash's awesome 15-year-old niece. Megan comes off like an old soul. I love the equal parts of wisdom and loving impudence that she exhibits in her dealings with her uncle.
If I could highlight all my favorite bits in this book on my , the highlight function would be broke, with smoke curling off of it. We're treated to a string of hilarious, high-spirited, sometimes topical on-air discussions as conducted by our star-crossed co-hosts. In fact, my second favorite moment is a gut-wrenching scene in which a concerned mother calls into the show to talk about her son. My favorite scene is absent of Ash. It's the one in which Grace finally meets Megan. That was hellafun.
Note that this book is a "clean" read, meaning there ain't no explicit scenes. Not that this is a chaste novel. Folks in these pages do get hot and bothered, but scenes don't extend to graphic content.
For those wanting more Grace and Ash, they show up as supporting characters in King of the Friend Zone (Power of the Matchmaker), the ninth book in Pratt's Power of the Matchmaker series. It may interest you to know that it features Grace's best friend Esme as its MC.
~4.5 stars~
